Small Businesses: 4 Tips For Successful Communication
Many great businesses fail . . .
Not because they don’t have the right product, people, or location, but because they fail to have all the necessary communication tools.
So what are the key communication tools a company should have?
- Social Media Presence and Web Presence. Now this might sound like a given, but you wouldn’t believe how many companies we’ve seen that do not have social media or a website. Moreover, it’s not just about having this presence, but using it in an appropriate way that can tell a story about your business, provide a service to your customers, or market a novel product. Think about your audience – who is checking out your Facebook page vs. your LinkedIn? – and cater your posts to that demographic. What do you want people to know? How do you want to engage your customers? And, most importantly, are you generating more traffic or sales as a result?

- Networking Events. What events are near you for your industry or businesses? Are you attending? If not, you should be! Many small companies benefit from networking with current and potential clients, businesses inside (and outside) of their industry, and people entering the workforce. You never know who you might run into! Before you go, think of ways that you and your business can stand out.
- VoIP Phone System. If you haven’t heard of this type of phone system, you’re missing out. This is what we do. And we do it well. Yes #shamelessplug. VoIP phone systems are changing the way we communicate by giving companies features, such as mobility that they won’t get from a regular mobile service or landline phone system.
- Internal Communication. How do your employees communicate with one another? Internal communication is just as, if not more, important than external. Programs like Google Hangouts, Slack, and Skype for Business, are all great programs that your company can use to get the highest productivity.
